What Are Full-arch Implants?

Kent single-tooth dental implants use a single implant and a crown to replace one missing tooth. But full-arch implants use a series of 4-6 implants. Depending on your needs, our Kent team can replace the teeth of the upper arch, lower arch, or both arches.

These implants support a fixed or removable implant-supported denture, which is held tightly in place. Because the implants are secured to your jaw bone, full-arch implants look and feel more natural and are much more stable than dentures, making them an excellent option for restoring your smile.

The Full-arch Dentures Process

Before you have full-arch dentures placed, you must have any remaining teeth extracted. In addition, you may need additional treatments like bone grafting or alveoloplasty (ridge smoothing) to prepare for treatment.

‍Treatment begins with a thorough cleaning and numbing of your mouth. Sedation is typically recommended so that you can remain comfortable throughout the process. Once your mouth is numb, our dentists in Kent will create an incision in your gums and jaw bone, and precisely place a single titanium implant. Then, the area will be sutured shut. ‍This process will be repeated 4-6 times for both arches of your mouth. Once all of your implants have been placed, you will get a set of temporary full-arch dentures to wear, and you’ll be sent home to recover.

‍Over the next 3-6 months, you’ll come in for several follow-up appointments with our Kentt office to check your healing progress and take measurements and impressions of your mouth and implants. During this time, your permanent set of removable or fixed implant-supported dentures will be built.

‍Once your mouth has fully healed and your implant-supported dentures are ready, you’ll come back to Kent Dentistry for your final dental implant appointment, and you’ll receive your permanent dentures from Dr. Park. You’ll leave our office with a beautiful, brand-new smile.

Are Full-arch Implants Right For Me?

If you have lost most or all of your teeth in Kent, but your mouth is relatively healthy and your jaw bone is still strong, full-arch implants may be right for you. To make sure you’re a good candidate, we recommend contacting our office for a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Byungchul Park.

Full-arch Implants Vs. Dentures

Compared to dentures, full-arch implants have a number of great benefits. First, they’ll never shift or move when you eat, speak, or chew, and if you opt for non-removable dentures, you don’t have to take them out to clean them.

‍In addition, full-arch implants help stimulate and protect your jaw bone, which tends to weaken after tooth loss. Just like natural teeth, dental implants transmit the pressure of biting and chewing to your jaw bone, which strengthens and stimulates it, and prevents bone loss.

‍Finally, full-arch implants from our Kent office last longer than dentures, making them a better long-term investment if you need to replace all of your natural teeth.
